Installing a Simrad TP10 on M17. It looks a simple project but I always like advice from experience. If anyone can give me advice it would be appreciated. Especially a picture. My reason is I only sail singlehanded and it will be a big assist for me. Had a 33’ with auto pilot and always sailed it alone. Little experience with my M17 and now use a Tiller Tamer but still a hand full with any wind. Need more assistance. Won’t use age as a excuse. Charlie Sent from my iPhone
I changed the plug to simple coaxial (like the 5mm 12v plugs for phones and such). It seemed way easier to plug in than the one it came with where you had to line up the pins. Also I put a lanyard on it with a little snap hook for safety, Mine sometimes pops off the tiller. Ahoy Charlie! Considering an autopilot for my M17 as well. Why did you pick the Simrad over the Raymarine? - Jim M17 "Spirit" On 4/21/2021 6:15 PM, Charles Adams via montgomery_boats wrote:

Good question. After research felt it the best for my wants and appeared to be the most used on small boats. Main want was simple to operate. I looked at both on YouTube and Raymarine was overkill for my want and I read it was noise in operation. Where I forget but I remember watching it on YouTube and it was noisy. On Amazon where I bought mine Raymarine is only $10 more than Simrad. I wanted nothing wireless. I’ll give a report on it after it is installed which will be about mid May. Still having snow in upper NY. Charlie Sent from my iPad
