What do you use for a preventor on an M15
Merry Christmas to fellow M boaters and others on this list, I single hand my M15 and want an easy to reach/attach preventor on the main. Does anyone have a simple system? I don't want to move the boom vang. Norm M-15 #172 Ventura, CA
Norm, Merry Christmas to you as well. I try to keep an extra shackle on each of the channel extenders on the ends of the shouds of my M15. They are handy for attaching fenders, and preventor lines to. A premade line the proper lenght with a quick release shackle on on both ends should set you up nicely. One end to the pad eye for the center mainsheet block or the boom vang bail, the other to the shackle on the channel extender. If you want it fully adjustable the boom end could simply be done with a taught line hitch (with or without a shackle. Or if you dont' like hardware just tie a 2 inch loop in a line, place the running end of the line through the shackle at the channel extender (the thin raceing dinghy lines fit through the holes in the channel extender if you don't want a shackle there)back though the boom vang bail, though the end loop, pull the line tight back on itself and tie it off.
