Cleaning the carburetor of a Honda 2hp
Montypals: Well, got the outboard out today to see how she was doing. Won't start. I left the gas in all winter with some Sta-bil. Probably not a wise choice. I don't know much about these engines. In any event, I suspect I need to pull the carburetor out and take it apart and clean it with carb cleaner etc. Anybody got a schematic or instructions on how to do this? I can't seem to find a manual about it. Daniel M15 Kestrel #208
Daniel, Here is a link to a schematic for the BF2D model Honda 2hp. I would suggest just doing some google searches. I had the same issue last fall on my Mercury 3.5 hp. It wasn't difficult to take apart or clean. Once you take the carb out and clean it and see how small the jet value opening is, you'll be sure to empty the gas and run the motor dry before winter storage. Experience is a great teacher. I know, I have plenty of 'Experience'. lol Good luck with the project. http://www.justanswer.com/boat/6flnv-honda-2hp-outboard-starts-first-pull-id... Daniel, Here's the original link to Boat.net which provides schematics for most outboards. You can order replacement parts if you find you need something. http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Honda/Outboard%20Engine/2006/BF2D6%20SCAB%...
