Oiling New Teak vs. Old Teak
A few years ago I sanded the teak on my old boat, and left it natural for a while. I could not decide which finish to use. She stays indoors mostly. I recently bought some close-out teak hand rails at Defender. And paid a visit to West Marine, where I picked up the house brand two-part cleaner and oil. I cleaned the old teak, then oiled it. I used only oil on the new teak. While the new teak looks nice, the old teak looks "brand new", to quote the admirable. It is so bright, you have to wear shades. Should I: 1) Clean and reoil the new teak? 2) Sand, clean and reoil the new teak? 3) Appreciate the fact that the teak Jerry bought 25 years ago is prettier than that available today?
