Larry, It does pull on the heart strings to let it go. Many fond memories to last a life time. My first love has always been exploring in small boats. I have cruised "Seas the Day" and explored the most interesting parts of our coastal waters from the Marquesas keys off of Key West all the way through Central Maine, the north Channel of lake Huron, the pacific NW, the fine lakes in Idaho, the channel islands in CA and many of our western lakes. Because I lived near the Chesapeake Bay for many years I have cruised 80% of its shoreline (including the Potomac river) from Baltimore to Cape Charles. The good cruising waters to explore are a long way from Phoenix the boat has seen little use as my exploring has shifted to the wild open land of AZ, UT, NV and New Mexico. These have been remote trips using my BMW 650 GS motorcycle or my 4 wheel drive truck. I have done some kayak trips on some remote western rivers but even the class 3 rapids have gotten to be too much for my solitary exploring style. I still explore some of the smaller western waters by camp cruising in my 8 ft Sherpa dingy with its balance lug rig. We are likely to be moving our of the desert heat to some higher cooler country in the next two years with even less water near by. I really enjoyed sailing the Pacific NW with you.
