Hello Luffer, After much thought, questioning, etc I just ordered a Suzuki 6HP 4 stroke for our older M17. It has an internal tank and the connections for an external tank, a longer tiller than most and weighs less than 60 lbs. M-boat subscriber Randy Watkins recommended this motor [see his posting on May 5]. It can also be equipped with an alternator. I ordered from www.marine-outboards.com for a delivered price of $1280 [no tax]. They said delivery will take 2-3 weeks so have not taken delivery yet nor have I ever dealt with this company so am hoping all goes well. The Honda 5HP looks great but must use an external tank-too bad! Best Wishes, Ron Goodspeed
Thanks Ron, I am anxious to hear how your new motor works out. I will not be buying mine until I get my new old boat (1978) home and cleaned up. Bill
I just expressed this "off list" directly to Bill, but is anyone besides me really excited about Bill's "derelict M17" restoration? Is anyone else anxious to hear every last gorey detail of the renovation? :-) Thanks! --Craig, chonshell@ia4u.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Sylvester" <wmcsyl1@cox.net> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2003 9:55 PM Subject: M17 Outboard Thanks Ron, I am anxious to hear how your new motor works out.
