Hi Cheri -- welcome to the group. I was strongly considering buying Joe Super's boat myself and in fact had gone so far as to schedule a meeting with him until I had the luck (good or bad luck, is yet to be seen) of finding a much cheaper one, but which also needed a lot more work. One of the strong attractions of the boat you ended up with was that, from what I understand, it is in real nice condition with no work necessary to get it out on the water and looking good. I'm starting to question the wisdom of my decision as Spring on Lake Michigan draws ever nearer, and the kitchen remodeling project I'm working on drags on and on, and the boat is just sitting there in the garage, no closer to being ready to go than it was when I got it in December! I still have to get it off the trailer to find out if my centerboard works or not -- the guy I bought it from didn't seem too sure. Sailing season in the Chicago area is all too short as it is, without spending all Spring UNDERNEATH the boat. I too bought the boat mainly on the Montgomery reputation (legend?) -- I can't wait to try it out! -- Steve McClellan 1981 M15 #152 stevemc35@attbi.com
Thanks for the information on finding out the hull number of my "new to me" M-15. It is hull # 322 and was made 5/85. The hull is forest green with a red stripe around it . We bought it in Maryland because Joe Super was kind enough to save me a couple of hours additional driving by meeting me in Hancock MD. I bought it sight unseen and just had the M-15 reputation and the emails back and forth to Joe to go on, but I don't think I will be disappointed when I actually get to sail it. He suggested replacing the line for the centerboard. Any tips on how to do that?
