Re: M_Boats: Where to post Pictures to the Group?
Ah, good point Henry. No albums on trailer sailor. A Yahoo group or other similar would be better for that. ie the Nor'sea Yahoo group. If the MSOG site or the old photo site I think Dave Scobie is working on preserving allows that, then so much the better, wait for that. It may have the older and still good content. Nonsuch boats have a Pbase photo site with something like that, but it is not administered anymore. Now just an orphaned photo site. Bill

Why not just post, pics and all to the Montgomery forum on TrailerSailor? It is all set up. The Monty forum there is certainly underutilizes compared to some of the other class forums on that site. You don't even have to deal with the main board if you don't want to.

Move to a Yahoo group, which has file and picture sharing and the option to get mail or view messages on web or both. I'm in a few other groups (including sailboat groups) that use Yahoo groups and it works well to augment the e-mail listserv piece we already have. Pictures can be in "albums" as well so it's not just one big pile of pictures.
This list is AFAIK a mailman listserv - e-mail list - which is basically all mailman does (and does it very well, for decades now, but, it's just an e-mail list server, doesn't provide any other features/functions)
There are other more techie options I won't go into now because they involve upgrading the MSOG site to something we can all "join" and then have ability to share pictures, files, etc..
cheers, John S.

have looked at, studied, and, in some cases, drooled over each existing picture many times. I would love to see updated pictures and some new/different projects. I know we can include pictures with posts on the TrailerSailor site (why not here?) but I would like to see some whole new albums like on MSOG.

My previous boat was a Cape Dory. That marque still has an active owners group and a fairly slick forum run by some tech-savvy members. I would love to see a forum like that for Montgomerys. It is over my head, but I believe the latest in forum software makes it pretty easy for a tech-savvy person to set one up with all the bells and whistles. In many cases the software is free. There would be some expense for hosting. Based on the amount of traffic I see on this list serve and the Trailer Sailor site, I think that expense would be pretty manageable and not hard to cover with small donations. I sense a lot of nostalgia for this list serve, but a new state-of-the-art forum sure would be sweet. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Buzzi" <thomaspbuzzi@gmail.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2016 11:28:12 PM Subject: Re: M_Boats: Where to post Pictures to the Group?
