An invitation to Montgomery sailors from the Arizona Yacht Club. Don't forget the WICR/Potter Invitational January 17-19 2014 at Lake Pleasant AZ. ____________________________________ From: fleet.captain@arizonayachtclub.org To: GILASAILR@aol.com CC: DLynde012@aol.com Sent: 9/20/2013 7:27:42 A.M. US Mountain Standard Time Subj: Arizona Yacht Club Fall Race Series Hi Gary, I'm the Racing Fleet Captain at Arizona Yacht Club. I'd like to invite you and other Montgomery 17 sailors to participate in our Fall Race Series. It is 5 weekends running from October 5 to December 8. The "full series" includes sailing both Saturday and Sunday, while the "Saturday Only" option is of course only the one day per weekend. We have one Montgomery 17 singed up already, I would really like to see a fleet of 5 boats or more. I'll attach our Notice of Race for your consideration, please forward it to other Montgomery 17 sailors who might be interested. We had a great Montgomery 17 representation at our last Birthday Regatta, so I hope there is interest. For those who would like to sign up ( or learn more), go to the AYC web site: http://arizonayachtclub.org/racing/ Enter the Lake Pleasant "Sign up now" and make an entry for the Non Spin Fleet. If we get four more boats entered we will create a separate Montgomery 17 fleet and you will all sail together with your own start. Best Regards, Greg Woodcock Racing Fleet Captain Arizona Yacht Club
Hi all, on my list of projects I should do this off season is to get at the heart of some possible damage to the deck under the mast that seems to translate all the way down to the cabin floor of my M-23. The deck under the mast step is a bit depressed and you can see looking at the bulkhead (https://picasaweb.google.com/110938325409185510143/M23#5944278538823853202) that the ceiling of the cabin under the mast step is depressed as is the cabin floor (photo in album). The whole area has been this way since the boat came to me from CA and I found this summer that the area was leaking quite a bit so I feel that for a couple reasons I need to see what the situation is in the deck itself in this area and at the base of the compression post. My question is does anyone know whether: 1.) is the deck under the mast step plywood core? 2.) what does the compression post or what should it rest on (I am guessing the keel but the keel is a vague concept for me at this point not knowing what is under the molded floor). Thanks! Robbin M-23
