Re: M_Boats: Towing an M-15
I've been lusting after a Forrester turbo ever since they came out. What kind of mileage do you get with that rocket? Is the bottom end torque as good as it sounds? The 165 HP, plain jane L model handled it ok, but the S model has 4-wheel disk brakes that stop it better. Currently, I have a Forester with a turbo in it (210 HP), and hardly know the boat is back there--just finished the 800 mile round-trip Pullman- to- Anacortes and the 2-week sail with the Monty group in the San Juan and Gulf Islands. --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M15 #235 'Vanilla'
Steve: The low speed torque in the turbo Forester is great! It's almost like having another gear in the transmission. The turbo requires premium gasoline (91 octane or better). I get 20 to 23 mpg driving on the road with no real load; and I averaged 16.71 mpg towing my M15 from Pullman to Anacortes and back (808 miles round trip) over the Cascade Mountains at 60-70 mpg (yes, even 60 mph up the grades). --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M15 #235 'Vanilla' On Jun 24, 2005, at 6:12 AM, IDCLLC@aol.com wrote:
