Tod, I tried some Git-Rot on a piece of spruce that was NOT encapsulated many years ago. Results were IMHO less than adequate.( I am not an expert at anyrthing so maybe that was the problem!?) West System with preheated wood may have produced better results. I think you would do best to remove the affected wood and replace it.
