Thanks to all who replied. I had some medical down time and was gathering some information for some upcoming projects. The down time has also given me the opportunity to get my web site up and running: Steve's Sailing Pages <http://members.cox.net/slsail> . Several of the pictures are some that Bill was kind enough to post on the MSOG site. Additionally, I have other pictures of former boats and the condition of M17 #263 when I first looked at it. Steve: I thought I threw those cushions away. :) Maybe somebody stole them from the dumpster and sold them to your guy. Either that or Jerry got a good deal on some ugly couch fabric....which btw...was very popular at the time. We bought a matching sofa sleeper in 1976 and lugged it around the first 15 years or so we were married. The fabric was a dead ringer. If you have not already discovered, that teak cleans up really well. 8 to 10 coats of Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss (for teak), and it will look like you dunked it in glass. If the nuts turn....drill out the bungs to get to the screw heads. The bungs are easier to replace than messing up the screws trying to save the bungs. Don't ask me how I know. Save the screws and keep them in order. They are not all the same length. They were trimmed to fit so as to just cover the threads with the nuts. What did you do with the wind vane? Thanks for the suggestion on the teak hand rails. They will need some attention, if for no other reason, several screws are loose and the whole thing needs to be rebeded. The rest of the teak cleaned up real nice, but I don't have any pictures yet. The wind vane is a Ratcliffe Marine Design for which I have the original (thin) manual. I originally thought I would keep it, but lately have been thinking about E-bay and cleaning out my attic. Hi Steve, Great web site and pictures, I enjoyed your account of the upgrades you have made. Mine is a similar old M17 #204. The ladder/platform seemed a particularly neat idea, can you tell me where you got it and how much. The folding boarding platform consists of two major purchased components; the teak platform (approximately $60 and the folding 2 step ladder, approximately $100). The mounting brackets, hinge, adjustable cables, and backing plates were easily fabricated parts.
