There's quite a story behind Freebird, there was a nice write up in the Montgomery newsletter many years ago. I think the guys name was Mark Hightower and he worked for Jerry. The 17 was being built for a fella from Mexico to do some serious sailing. The plans fell thru and Mark got the boat and got it ready to go. Jerry will know the story. If I can find the old newsletter i will scan it and send it along Gary Valetti M17 Bellerin **************Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel. Check out Today's Hot 5 Travel Deals! The old MON's are all on the MSOG site, although some URL's seem to need to be manually edited to get to all of the pages: http://msog.org/mon/mon_main.cfm It was in the Winter, '96 newsletter. Mboaters - in 'looking' at the M17 on ebay i noticed something in the pictures - pop rivits (or what look like pop rivits) or screws along the hull/deck joint. for one example see - http://photos.ebizautos.com/7410/3497775_24.jpg (for the entire listing see search for listing 320314220500 on ebay.com) when you see other M17s of 'newer' vintage you don't see these - http://www.msogphotosite.com/MSOG/b17hyde/b17hyde12.jpg or older a slight bit older - http://www.msogphotosite.com/MSOG/b17smith/b17smith10.jpg thoughts? dave scobie M15 #288 - SCRED visit Scred's www-site: http://www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred
