When I reseated my mast step, I drilled the holes a little larger, used a nail to try and clean out any soft wood, then "dammed" the bottom of the holes with duct tape, then used a syringe to dispense penetrating epoxy into the holes. When the epoxy cured, I redrilled to correct original bolt diameter and seated the mast step with 3M 4000 UV. This has worked well for me but YMMV.
That is approximately what I am going to do. I will do a wet fill first with the duct tape, then fill with paste like epoxy mixed with colloidal silica purchased as part of the West Systems. I bought the stuff today. I'll keep ya posted. Daniel On Feb 21, 2011, at 6:57 PM, ndorf@surfbest.net wrote:
