Since it's a little slow, I found a good tutorial on bedding deck hardware at a new site (also added to the MSOG links list), marinersguide.com: http://www.marinersguide.com/reviews/hardware/index.html ------------------------------------------ Doug King M-17 #404 "Vixen" Montgomery Sailboats Owners Group Web site: http://msog.org Email: mailto:msog@msog.org
Recently there were several postings about m-17 centerboards getting stuck and how to free them up. Has anyone had similar problems with their M-15? My M-15 has a 5/16" hole drilled through the bridge plate (?) and the wood piece on the bottom of the boat. The holes are about 1" aft of the pennant. When the cb occasionally sticks in the up position, I shove a 1/4" rod down through the holes until it hits the cb, then give it a little push and the CB has always dropped. I saw two other M-15s last weekend and neither had the same set up, so now I'm curious if a previous owner set it up or if it is standard on most boats. If this set up isn't normal and anyone is interested, I'll take a picture and send it to Doug to post on the ever great and always improving MSOG site. Don Haas M-15 248 Dream Catcher
In a previous reply to Craig, I think I used the term Pennant for the line connecting to the CB. After having done a bit of research, I think the most correct term is Pendant. Pennant is an English variation of spelling for Pendant, but means something different than the short line we are talking about. And for the M17, I also mentioned it would be a 3/8" line. Actually, I think it is larger....more like a 7/16" line. With that all cleared up, maybe I can go back to sleeping at night! : ) Howard
Didn't know enough to correct you on either point. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Howard Audsley" <haudsley@tranquility.net> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 24, 2002 8:36 AM Subject: M17 Centerboard In a previous reply to Craig, I think I used the term Pennant for the line connecting to the CB. To make sure this dead horse is well-beaten, I remember a posting a while back saying that, though it is spelled "pendant", it is pronounced "pennant", hence Howard is right all the way around. Also, there is a bunch of information on the MSOG site, as well as a running Owners Opinion Poll, all about outboards at http://msog.org/cfmods/outboards.cfm. We'd like to have your opinion on the subject. The input page can be accessed at the same url. Sure Don, send a pic or two of your cb scenario, if you want. Doug At 09:53 PM 7/24/02 -0400, you wrote:
