Sailor's Taylor Covers
Hi fellow sailors, Any of y'all have a Sailor's Taylor cover for your M-17? How's it working out for you? I'm specifically looking at the polyester Mooring/Trailering model with two vents. Jim M-17 "Spirit"
Jim, We ordered a tan poly-duck cover in March from Sailor's Tailor. So far have been very happy with it. We added 2 aft facing vents over the cockpit and 2 forward of the shrouds facing down. Seems very well made with good stitching. Lots of heavy snaps and twist locks. The hem around the bottom has shock cord with stainless clips. Comes with 8 tie down lines and there are more loops for additional. Have trailered it at 60 with no problems. It is a big cover to store away in the truck when sailing. Might be an issue covering the tiller if you have the Ida-Sailor blade. We don't have it yet. We like the cover. Jim; I've had mine for almost a year, thru some high winds (50's-60's) and thru last years California rain storms. I highly recommend it. Mine is the poly white with 2 vents facing port and Starboard over the cockpit. Thanks Mitch. Thanks Bill. Sounds like a good product. Just put in my order. Jim M-17 "Spirit" On Jul 15, 2010, at 5:42 PM, Mitch Carnes wrote:

I'll add another vote in favor of the Sailors Tailor cover. Had mine for over a year and couldn't be happier. I have an Ida Sailor rudder and the cover fits over it fine. Very sturdy and well-made, and after some practice easy to take off and put on. Sure protects the brightwork! I know what you mean by the practice! :). Pretty cool the way it all fits around the bow pulpit. Glad to hear it fits over the Ida Sailor rudder. Bill On Fri, Jul 16, 2010 at 7:36 AM, Rick Davies <jdavies104@gmail.com> wrote:

I also have a Sailor's tailor cover and it has kept me from needing to refinish the woodwork this year. I tried trailering with it and for me it didn't work out, but perhaps it's because I didn't use the side tie-downs. But for keeping the boat form th elements it is great. Andrei.
I did the eight-coat Epifanes thing last spring on all the teak, and determined never to do it again! With the cover, so far it hasn't deteriorated noticeably at all. Rick M-17 #633 Lynne L On Fri, Jul 16, 2010 at 8:51 AM, Andrei Caldararu <andreic@math.wisc.edu>wrote:

Peeling varnish is precisely what's motivating the purchase of my cover. That, and buffing out the first signs of gelcoat "oxidization". And cleaning leaves out of the cockpit in the fall. And the bird poop... Jim M-17 "Spirit" On Jul 16, 2010, at 8:32 AM, Rick Davies wrote:

For those thinking about ordering a Sailors' Taylor cover for their M-17 before winter: The current turn-around time is five weeks. Don't wait 'till the last minute! Jim M-17 "Spirit" On Jul 16, 2010, at 9:23 PM, Jim Poulakis wrote:
