almost ready: checklist, did I miss anything?
1) Hitch is on the car 2) new tires on the trailer plus a new spare 3) wheel bearings repacked 4) tongue weight checked 5) boat tied securely down 6) new clutch on car, new brakes 7) trailer lights work 8) new safety chains (actually cables) on trailer 9) registration tabs on the trailer Did I miss anything? I still have to even the air pressure in the car tires, and put the mast on the holder (but can't do that until it is out of the garage.) I have to register the boat in Washington (I think, never got an answer to that.) Any of you M15 owners who can tell me if I do? It is going to stay there, not come back to California. And once I get there, need to get a new winch cable and check the lines to see what needs replacing. Bobbie
Yesterday our GPS showed Endelig traveling at 6.1 MPH( our best so far) on a broad reach in about 10-14 mph winds. I was looking for the water skis. How fast will these little boats go??? Bill Sylvester M-17 # 279 Endelig
Bill I just delivered a Green hull/white deck, bronze ported, full electrical system, tan bark sailed M_17 to Rob and Joan in Park City Utah. Named CYGNUS. A $20,000 boat. Rob and a friend took her on a several day cruise to the Channel Islands. Rob called me to brag about the boat doing 7.8 MPH (GPS) in the fresh wind between the islands. Later that night they anchored and the winds were gusting to 35 knots, the anchor held and in the morning they had a fast sail back to the Marina, passing everyone in sight. He couldn't believe how fast and weatherly the M_17 was. So not only did he have the best looking boat at the ramp, he had the fastest. Bob (949) 489-8227 William Sylvester wrote:

Does surfing down the side of a swell count? I saw 6.5 in my M-15 several times the last time I was out. Don't forget that a GPS is going to include any boost you get from a current. Norm

Has anyone tried Micron CSC bottom paint? It seems perfect for trailer boats but I'm not sure a small sailboat is fast enough to make ablative paint work. Norm
Norm: I use Micron Extra ablative bottom paint and it works great at keeping stuff from growing on the bottom of the boat. I don't think boat speed relates to whether ablative paint works. --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M15 #235 'Vanilla' On Jun 14, 2005, at 11:25 AM, Norm Lane wrote:

CBC 2005 on the Choptank Bay (no current) - 16 - 20 kt winds - broadreach - reefed main and working jib - surfing on a wave GPS logged 7.4 as max speed in my M15. The next day we crossed the Chesapeake with 8 - 12 kt winds and the GPS never read less than 4 kts and consistently hovered around 5 kts with surges to 5.5 Full main, working jib. --- Norm Lane <nl@sagatech.com> wrote:
