Mboaters: reading the latest issue of SAIL magazine there is an interesting article about replacing out-of-production aluminum framed windows - 'Windows on the water', SAIL Nov/Dec '19 pages 50&51. the article describes how a company will make replacement frames and windows that will fit the existing opening. the company is Bomon in Laval,Quebec, Canada - bomon.com Thought this would be of use for owners of the classic M17s with aluminum cabin windows. :: Dave Scobie :: SV SWALLOW - https://sv-swallow.com :: Montgomery 6'8" #650 :: Truck camper - https://truckpopupcamper.wordpress.com/ :: Ramblings - https://scoobsramblings.wordpress.com/ :: former M17 owner #375 SWEET PEA - https://m17-375.com/ <http://www.m17-375.webs.com/> FOR SALE! :: former M15 owner #288 - http://www.freewebs.com/m15-name-scred
Thanks, good to know. Luckily my original frames ('74) were OK, though the original plexiglass was hazy and crazed somewhat. A local glass shop was able to make me some replacements and put them in the old frames (which I had taken out and cleaned up). They used laminated safety glass instead of plexi or polycarbonate. They said it would be clearer, not scratch or haze like plastics, plenty strong for that small size, and fit in the channel without needing the hard or impossible to find molding from the old plexi ones. cheers, John On 11/25/19 1:14 PM, Dave Scobie wrote:
