Small boat skippers, Is applying bottom paint necessary after sealing the hull with Inta....2000? I am keeping the Monty 17 in a fresh water lake this year. Tom B. Monty 17, "AS-IS"
Interlux 2000 is just a barrier coat which is crucial, so good job! VC-17 is a common hard paint and used in fresh water a lot. Easy to apply and a great protector for sludge/slime/Zebra mussels in the upper Great Lakes and inland lakes. Good and durable for the frequent loading and unloading from the trailer as well. Thanks for the Reply, Tim. Saw a flush deck 17 a few years ago. Neat looking boat. Lots of room below. Used VC-17 a long time ago on my first Monty 17. It worked well. If you use VC17 you can't use any other bottom paint over it. It all has to be completely stripped before applying a different paint. VC17 is worthless in salt water, lots of fresh water sailors like it though.
