Hello, everyone! My name is Rusty Knorr. I live in Seattle and I am the new owner of a 1981 Montgomery 15 (blushing with pride!) I have a few questions about my little baby. Perhaps someone out there with more experience with these wonderful "little ships" can help me out. 1. I am curious about the down-haul for the goose-neck at the main tack. There is an eye at the bottom of the goose-neck but no other fitting at the base of the mast but the one for the vang. How do you run your down-haul? Does the vang fitting do double duty? I don't have a vang right now... 2. The tiller seems really short, I think the previous owner may have cut it down. Has anyone used a longer tiller? Perhaps like a J-24 tiller? Are there still M-15 tillers available to buy? I want to move forward to balance the boat when going to windward but the tiller is too short to really reach when I move forward. Any suggestions? 3. Any ideas for bow rollers or chocks to prevent chafe from anchoring and docking? I leave the boat in the water all the time in a slip and have noticed chafe already on the teak toe rail at the bow. I imagine it would be really bad at anchor. I put a short piece of garden hose at the chafe point for now, will that do the trick? I am sure I will have more questions but for now that will do. Thank you so much for the help! I love my little M-15 so far, we are going to have a blast together!
Fair winds, Rusty Knorr
PS: I am in Seattle. If there are any Montgomery owners in the area, let me know. I would love to connect with you!!!

Rusty, What is your hull number? I have M15-159. I believe it was laid up in May of '81. We are in Canby, just south of Portland. Hi, Steve. I have hull number 168, built in June of '81. Our boats are cousins! Nice to hear from you, take care. Fair winds, Rusty --- Steve & Diana Parsons <sparsons@canby.com> wrote:
