M15: Rowing; Worst conditions
Greetings from N. shore of L. Superior: -15F,snow& wind last couple of nights but at least my M15 is safely tucked away in its dome shelter! Bob Eeg's tale of the specially equipped M17 that he constructed for the Austrian man was fascinating and raised a couple of questions about the M15: (1) Has anyone tried rowing one, and if so how was it? and (2) What were the worst conditions a M15 has survived intact (wind, waves) with all sails down and only motor power? Pardon me if these questions have been asked before- I joined just last year. If they have please point me in the right direction and I'll check it out. Thanks and safe sailing to the lucky souls in the south. Harry Elmslie
Rick Langer on "bluebird" set up his M15 for rowing...contact him.As to worst conditions motoring into?.....One was sailed from CA to Hawai. In rough weather the OB would be out of the water as much as in.Storm sails would be better.
Hey Harry......a fellow Canuck. I can't recall recall seeing another on the list. Howdy from the left side. Tim in Kelowna M17 Puff.

Up late too.....well 10:15 is not all that late I guess. I have a web sailing buddy that sails that area on a .....man, what was that boat.....starts with an S.......sorry, I forget. Anyway, it sounds a right treat around those parts sailing-wise. Weather -wise....beeen there done that. I spent 2 winters and 2 1/2 summers in a small town right on Lake Ontario called Brighton. Early 70's. Nice spot. Great summers but humid....and mosquitos big enough drag off Chihuahuas. Well....that's three. I wonder if there are any other members of the Monty North Division? Tim in Kelowna. Where tonight it is -7 and Puff has 2" of the white. (notice the mixed systems....poor confused canucks) =================================== -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of fdurant@webhart.net Sent: Saturday, December 01, 2007 7:14 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: RE: M_Boats: M15: Rowing; Worst conditions I live on the Ottawa river just outside of Pembroke Ontario (100 miles W of Ottawa) COLD here tonight!! _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats -- No virus found in this incoming message.
