My apologies.  I realized I had the wrong date for Cruiser Challenge X.  The Potter Yachter's Cruiser Challenge X in Monterey will be July 25 - 26.  I plan to sail down from Santa Cruz on the 24th and would still enjoy company.  In answer to your question Bill, I took 4th last year, getting a bullet in the first race, I think 4th or 5th in the second, and after a miserable start in the third, maybe mid-pack. In all honesty, if I can improve on last years finish, I will be quite pleased with myself.  Very blustery conditions last year complete with collisions, one dismasting and the Peep Hens heading for harbour early.  I am hoping for a little lighter breeze this year as it would be more fun for group as a whole.  I finally got out on the weekend with my new Elliot Pattison main and 85 percent jib.  The main looks very good and is a big improvement on my very well worn, old Kern.  It was not very windy all weekend (4-8kts) on Monterey Bay so the new jib didn't get much of a chance to work, but in the few puffs that came up I could tell it will really shine in the more typical, summer conditions here. We have a nice ramp here in Santa Cruz along with lots of otters, sea lions, a few dolphin and the occasional jumpback whale.  C'mon down!
