Andrei, I know what you mean about fussy 2-strokes. They can die at the most inappropriate times, (in the crowded marina). I purchased a Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke for my M17 in 2000. I have been very pleased with it. Scanning Craig's List here in Mpls a week or so ago I saw the same motor, only a 2001, for sale for $640. FYI. Bones, I ended up going to MIlwaukee today and picking up this motor, 2001 Nissan 5hp, looks quite clean and was running good. I'll have to try it one of these days on the boat, but it looks like it'll be a pretty good fit. I'll probably sell the Evinrude on Craigslist, though based on what I can get for it I may just keep it as a spare... Andrei.
