Newbie question on sheaves and such
Sorry for such a basic question but my new Monty is parked and waiting for the 22 inches of snow to melt. So here goes.... what is a "sheave"? what does it look like? and where is it located? Is there an old monty manual that I might get my hands on to help with the rigging questions I might have? Thanks Doug __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Doug: A sheave is the little wheel inside a block. A block is sometimes called a pulley; and sometimes the sheave is called a pulley--all very confusing. Your masthead has a sheave (it is really a roller with a groove in it) over-which the main halyard goes to make the turn from going up the front of the mast to coming back down the back of the mast. --Gary Hyde M15 #235 'Vanilla' N24 'Sailabration' On Friday, February 13, 2004, at 08:21 AM, doug latka wrote:
