Any suggestions for outboards for "Whoa Nellie" M17 #354 1982. She has the non-adjustable outboard bracket. After I purchase her (fingers crossed) I will be using her in coastal New England waters. Irv
Hi Irv, We use an electric trolling motor of 56 lb. thrust to get on and off the dock. It works great. It's cheap, quiet, light and smoke and odor free. It will run for at least an hour on full rabbit and moves our M17 along at a good clip. ron and cathryn goodspeed M17 "hula pie" #025
Ron and Cathryn, I too, am a member of the M17 electric club (55 lb. thrust): Perfect for getting to and from the dock and much more reliable than my 4-horse Suzuki Iron Judas. I would miss the Suzuki on an extended cruise, however. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "ron and cathryn goodspeed" <rcgoodspeed@mac.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 31, 2002 8:17 PM Subject: Outboard Bracket Hi Irv, We use an electric trolling motor of 56 lb. thrust to get on and off the dock. Irv, The only way to get a bucket of worms contained is to get a bigger bucket, and the topic of "suggestions for outboards" definitely needs a large bucket. I think that all of us have our own set of prejudices. E.G. 2 vs 4 stroke. Long shaft vs short. Fixed bracket vs adjustable.... Have fun....
