I enquired into this and here is the guy's response: Then you start to put things on it. trailer, custom tan bark sails, new engine, custom boom tent for camping, custom bimini top ,custom matching sail covers (the jib cover is built into the sail) roller reefing, stainless steal pulpit aft and front, stainless boarding ladder, heavy duty stainless steel adjustable engine mount, and a Bruce style anchor with chain and line. The controls are led aft to the cockpit. I have a first class boat hook/brush combination and a rudder extention handle. I had two bottom entry way boards made so compass and gps can be mounted on one and the other used for security. The cuddy cabin is 5 1/2 feet by 8 feet and has a custom formed place for a Porta Potty (included). On your computer search for Montgomery boats and you will find Photos and information on construction of the boat. It's built like a tank. I added better grade fittings in places because it made things fit and work better. And finally freight bill was $1000 from Ontario, ca. Wow. Montgomery boats...a hedge against inflation. t
I got a similar responce. Could be a Scam. $17K just doesn't make sense, I don't care what he added to it. Hi Fran... I know the owner and he does have a tremendous amount of gear on his boat. Probably a big expense was the stainless/sunbrella bimini and I heard he had some custom sail covers made as well. We did set the boat up for singlehanding and he also has a CDI furler on the headstay. The boat is loaded and well cared for. Our current M_15s and M_17s come Standard with the stainless adjustable motor mount, stainless folding boarding (swim) ladder, Bow pulpit, etc. With a new motor and a boat full of gear he probably feels his M_15 is a good buy. More than likely he will sell it in the 14K range. You never know. His name is Jim and If I remember correctly he has a house on the beach with his boat out front. If anyone wants to see the boat, go to my website photo pages. (14 pages) His boat is on page 5 of 14. His boat is named ROVER and you can see it on the back of a truck with him standing next to the boat. I hope all is well with you Fran.! Bob, I am the proud 'new' owner of an 1981 M-15 with the fixed motor mount and no boarding ladder. I would very much like to upgrade my Monty with the adjustable motor mount and folding ladder you mention here. Could you advise me, re cost of these components and any installation concerns/procedures I should be aware of? Thank you! —Steve on Whidbey (Langley, WA) On Jun 11, 2008, at 5:17 AM, Bob From California wrote:

Hi Bob, Good to hear from you. "Rover" does look like a nice boat; I don't think the seller mentioned the year it was made. Being so relatively new and heavily equipt, it could be fairly priced. There was recently another M15, 2000's vintage asking about $12K, in Seattle. It sold fairly quickly there. Sorry for dissing Jim's listing. Good luck on selling your beautiful boat, Jim! being a 2000 or newer build boat the cost is much more understandable. IMO the add should include that information as one doesn't usually see boats older than the late 1980s for sale (i find it rare that any boat newer than 1990 is ever listed) and the 'sticker shock' is HIGH. this is especially true when bob's site still lists a new M15 as being $11K. dave scobie M15 #288 - SCRED visit Scred's www-site: www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred Bob From California <ocean37@hotmail.com> wrote: ...
