Hi folks.
I have decided to sell my M17.

Here are some details.
I will post some images and a link later today.
----------------------------------------
I had been toying with the idea of selling since last season, but decided to actually do it today. I sat down and listed as much as I could just off the top of my head without taking the cover off the boat.
I sailed only once last year and find that I am spending my hobby time on two other interests right now and have decided to sell the boat because I could frankly use the money to fund the other current hobbies. LOL.
The other reason I am selling is the politics of the large lake I live on. A long story.

I have sailed most of my life and have worked on boats and built boats professionally for a long time. What work I have done is solid.
I have many pictures and quite a few videos as well. I have included a few images just to give you an idea of the boat. Others can be taken if needed....or I might be able to find what you need to see on my computer.

This boat is very complete and well equipped. I am the third owner. Both the previous owners were in love with the boat as much as I.

The boat is in my yard in Kelowna BC Canada.
Cheers, Tim Diebert

1983 Montgomery 17 Hull # 369

The boat is in excellent condition and much has been added or improved.
Montgomery 17’s are highly regarded and not always easy to find, specially in Canada. I had to go to Portland for this boat in 2006.
The boat goes on and off the trailer easily. I can usually launch and retrieve this boat faster than clumsy motor boaters.
Trailer has surge brakes and is perfectly suspended for this boat. Tracks great behind a mini van or a small truck easily. One of the tires was new last year. The bearings have been repacked recently. Has bearing buddies. The bunks were recovered recently.

Full custom made (blue) sunbrella canvas cover for boat.
Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke engine. Works perfect. The cover or lid for the motor is unfortunately a bit beaten. It got blow off while towing last summer. It is fine but not perfect.
Stainless adjustable motor mount works great.
Tiller pilot. (Auto tiller)
All good standing rigging. All the wire and turnbuckles were replaced about three years ago.
Hank on head sails.
North battened Main and 155, original stock jib. Spinner, other older sails as well.
Slab reefing, two reef points.
Loose footed main …with out-haul.
Back-stay tensioner. Harken gear. (I am a sail tweaker....lots of adjustment)
Main sheet with all good Harken gear.
The main traveller always has worked fine, but has cheezy little pulleys on it. I just never got around to replacing them.
12V with high quality solar panel. I have cruised for up to 10 days and never had a shortage of 12V power.
New Main Power Switch.
All lines lead to cockpit.
Down haul head-sail.
Adjustable high end Whiskey Pole I also use as a Spinner pole (Forespar?)
Topping lift for the main.
Boom lift Spinner pole.
I have a bungee system for temporarily securing the head-sail to the foredeck. Very handy and easy. I sail solo a lot and the boat is rigged accordingly.
Custom Hatch boards /solid figured Makore.
Honduras railings.
Custom Honduras drawers/storage below.
Custom one piece rudder and tiller. This rudder is very accurate and fair. It made quite a large difference over the original rudder. The tiller is a beauty.
Center board cleaned and epoxied with new pendant and shackle added. There has never been an issue with this center board.
Never had bottom paint. Virgin bottom. I have only ever cleaned and waxed the bottom.
Anchors. Each with rode. 150 feet with chain and markers. Danforth style in a heavy canvas bag.
Flares
Original interior Cushions.
Storage containers below.
Good Compass
Icon VHF
Depth sounder / temperature.
Anemometer. (wind speed / hand held)
Folding Stainless boarding/swim ladder on transom. This ladder works very well and is out of the way when not in use.
Fenders
Snubber.
Electric bilge pump.

This boat is ready to sail.

What it needs:
My wife backed the trailer (no boat on it) into another trailer at the launch ramp. She killed the right hand side fender. Needs a new one. We can talk about that. Whoever buys this boat will undoubtedly trailering it some distance.
All the exterior woodwork is in need of attention. Some of it needs to be taken back to wood and done fresh. Some of it just needs a fresh coat of finish.
My goal is to get a fair price for it, the downside is I am not at all certain what a fair price is these days. Although I have been getting the groups emails, I only read occasional topics. I am kind of out of the loop.
If you want to know more or make an offer it would be best to email me direct; tim@timtone.com

Owning this boat was an achieved dream. It sails wonderfully, is admired by all, and looks perfect just sitting in my yard. But a boat this nice needs to be used more than I have been using it.
Cheers, Tim in Kelowna.
