Clarence passed away a few years ago. He was an adventurous fella and I believe he flew experimental planes and unfortunately was involved in an accident and did not survive. I remember him and Nora very well, great folks

Met you there when you were sitting in the cockpit of Todd's boat having a beer.
Todd may be the best sailor I've ever met, and that is more than a few. Most memorable moment was on a previous trip to the Chesapeake. A group of us had anchored on our Leadenham Creek and had the whole day to make a short hop of maybe 8 miles or so to Oxford down the Choptank, so we were messing around. Wind was up that day......not a bad thrash but blowing whitecaps. I had a full main and working jib up and was thinking I might need one reef. Then I met Todd. He was sailing the wrong way......meaning he was so far ahead he had turned back to join us. He had his full main up, plus the full genny and was sailing flat and fast. Worse, he later turned around......set up his sheet to tiller steering, and came back to not only overtake me, but passed me........on the high side. Boat was steering itself and he was on sitting on the front cabin........his back leaning on the mast and he was reading a book. Ho hum.
Made me think that in the right hands, a Montgomery could do almost anything. At least iy could with him.

Todd Mills is a good guy and he posts on the 'Montgomery Sailboats' forum on Facebook.
It's a good group but yeah, you have to join Facebook. I have Facebook because I have Kids and Grandkids I like seeing and communicating with. If you don't like Facebook because of privacy issues just join with name and no photo if you like or a photo of your boat. That would give you access without any worries.
David Grah posts some cool stuff including videos on the 'Montgomery Sailboats' Facebook and others of course. I think Mack Warner started it and there are 123 members. It's all about our boats and plenty of good photos you can look at or post your own photos.
Many thanks to Keith and Happy Birthday! I subscribed to the paper newsletter and came on board when Keith opened for business. Late 98 or 99.
I remember we had a Lyle Hess Fest in Maryland. I think it was 2003 and Gary V was there with 7 or 8 Montgomery's sailing in. I was with my friends Bernie and Kate from Roguewave in Annapolis. They owned a BBC 28. Several BBC 28s attended and a Falmouth Cutter, several NorSea 27s......all Lyle Hess Boats. What fun.
We met at 'Vera's White Sand Beach Club' a really nice place with good food. Incredible get together and party. Vera was kind of a celebrity and she eventually made her entrance like Nora Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. She was dressed like a Gypsy, probably 80 years old. Very sweet and friendly. Here she is.....

Funny you mention Todd Mills. He used to be active on the Cape Dory forum and one of his posts there was the first time I ever heard of a Montgomery (they are pretty rare here in New England). He seems to have had a number of different boats. Some time later we crossed wakes when he was sailing a Crawford Melonseed on my little bay.

Happy Birthday, Keith! I've been around since 97 or so, I owned Howards boat before he did! I still have some paper newsletters, form back in the day! Remember Tod Mills? He was a great contributor, I went on a Montgomery flotilla in Penobscot Bay in Maine in 2005 with him, Doug Kelch, Abby Gura, Rick on Bluebird (which had previously belonged to Connie Benneck). Over the years, you have provided an enormously satisfying community to HUNDREDS of us. Thankyou.

It's my birthday and I'm feeling nostalgic so here's a question or two...
When did you subscribe to the list?
Who, other than myself, has been on the list the longest?
Was anyone else a subscriber to the Montgomery Owners' Newsletter (the paper one)?
No need for happy birthday wishes. While I'm happy to be able to celebrate, I'm not so pleased to discover I now have dual citizenship, USA and Senior.😝
