Gary, Appreciate info. Thanks. Mark Gary M Hyde <gmhyde1@mac.com> wrote: I had an M15 but now of an M17. I'm 5'6" and could sit on the cover over the portapotti and cook supper with enough head room. Yes, I cooked inside the cabin with an Origo 1-burner mounted on the locker lid in the port-side locker. Cooked with the weather boards open but overhead hatch side shut if it was raining. I went for the larger boat for rough water either sailing or at anchor, just so I wouldn't bounce around so much. But the M15 will handle weather well. --Gary Hyde 2005 M17 sailboat #637 'Hydeaway 2' We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails. On Dec 1, 2007, at 7:48 PM, Mark Muellerweiss wrote:
Anyone know the dimensions from the portable head locker cabin sole to interior roof for the M15? Wondering if a West Marine "Go Anywhere Seat" could be used in the head locker sans porta-potti and v-berth center cushion similar to the arrangement used in Edey & Duff's Stonehorse Cutter
The "Go Anywhere Seat" also works well in the cockpit. I have used them in my previous sailboats. In fact, coupled with a folding chair as a cushion, they can be very comfortable.
I'm still trying to decide on M15 or M17, new vs. used. I like the interior and cockpit size of the M17, and I remember that some of my most memorable sailing was been in small boats, particularly my CD Typhoon and the family canoe I learned to sail in a few (actually 50 +/-) years ago. I enjoy thin-water sailing and feel like I might actually use the M15 more. Plan on doing a lot of singlehanded sailing, most day, but also hope to trailer sail around the US.
Appreciate any info you can share.
Thanks, Mark
