Follow-on question - has anyone used Starboard or something similar (solid synthetics) for their companionway boards? Pajarita (my M-17) came with boards made from only half-decent ply, which have warped some (especially the topmost board) with respect to "straight" and to each other. I plan to replace them, one way or another, so, a timely question for me also. thanks, John S. On 12/29/2015 07:35 PM, Dave Scobie wrote:
Tom.
I'll take/find some pictures when I get back to the shop of a system we use for a 2/3 drop in board. It uses a small amount of teak with Marine teak plywood. A lot less cost than solid teak.
Give me a couple of days, as I'm on the road doing Sage stuff. Will be back in Golden, CO, new years.

I have to replace my companionway hatch boards. The track will accept 3/4 inch thick stock. Any suggestions for type of wood to use? Will something other than expensive teak work?Should the ends be splined to prevent warping from the sun?
