Back in 2000, right after I bought my 1976 M17 and hadn't even done enough work on her yet to get her in the water, I was hanging around the waterfront on Pend Oreille Lake in northern Idaho. I hadn't even seen another Montgomery yet, but wonder of wonders, a M15 came sailing by. I called out "Hello the Montgomery!" My wife was mortified. How uncouth! She still teases me about it. Fortunately, the sailor was less sensitive about strangers yelling across the lake at him, and he sailed over for a nice chat. Last weekend, as I was sailing back to our marina on Pend Oreille Lake, a voice called out behind me "Hello the Montgomery!" I had to grin as I hove to, and a power boat pulled up to visit. Turned out to be a guy who had just moved up from California and used to own a M17 flat deck named Chunky Dory, but had sold her a while back down in L.A. That boat name rang a bell, so I wrote to Mark Esovedo, who I've been corresponding with in regard to one of his modifications on his flush deck Amy, and sure enough! It's the same boat. Small world, huh?
