Connie, Yes sir, that is what I was trying to say, apparently not as well as I would have liked. :-) But, the point in the end is, if one is going to motor and sail a mast head light alone will not fit the rule for both modes of power. So why have one?

But, ................... if you decide to use your motor, then you have to show different navigation lights.

Then you need a red and green plus a white stern light, and above them - on the mast - a white light shining forward that tells others you are under power.................. At this point you can't use your masthead tricolor light.
