Hi Al, FWIW: Years ago when I had to rebuild a ComPac 16 trailer in Florida so that I could get the boat back to Connecticut, I went to the Yellow Pages, and found that there were specialty trailer shops that sold all the parts: axles, springs, bearings hubs; etc. Since my axle, wheels etc. showed the effects of immersion in salt water plus neglect for years, I needed a complete overhaul before I felt confident that it would hold together for the long trip back to Connecticut. The Company rebuilt my axle with new hubs and bearings : sold me new springs, and I bought new tires and wheels to complete the job. The trip home, up I-95 was uneventful. Connie al williams wrote:
I'm in the process of replacing the axle on my 1981 M17 Trail Rite Trailer. Two questions: (1) Has anyone replaced their axle & springs? If so where did you get the parts? (2) If you have an early '80's trailer can you provide the trailer id info - minus the vehicle number, that's listed on the sticker. My info is long gone.
thanks al williams
