Bill, J-boats, at least some of them, are not without their shortcomings either, construction-wise, so try again, Bill. I'm thinking in particular of cored hulls below the waterline....a idea that sounds good on paper and might be ok for a short-lived race boat but isn't good over the long haul. They've had other issues such as cracked J24 rudders (shear failure along the center plane), etc I doubt a boat has been built that hasn't had at least some minor issues. And compared to many, the Montgomerys look pretty golden.
