Hi Clint, My recommendatrion is to go with an all stayfast (non-stretch) main halyard and not a rope / wire halyard. Easier to use: You can remove it when you store the boat for the winter without disassembling the mast head fitting If you get wear spots, you can end-for-end the halyard, and keep using it. Connie
