I agree with the Yahoo site. It works well for the NorSea owners group (me included). The Montgomery Owners site exists there already. It was previously set up by Sean Mulligan (sp?) from Lake Havasu, AZ. It is a pain that all the communication goes through the yahoo mail server. That means it's practically the only mail I get from yahoo and I have to check it separately from my gmail.
You do not need to use a yahoo e-mail address for a yahoo group. You do need to create a yahoo ID to log into Yahoo services, but then you can add any other e-mail accounts to your profile and use any one of them to get mail from a given group. I am a member of about half a dozen yahoo groups but don't use my yahoo login/e-mail address for any of them, I use this address. The yahoo group says it's only for an owner registry and nothing else. So far that appears true - there are no messages, and photos are not enabled. I think it would be good to enable photos on the yahoo group so there would be someplace to put pics and albums of pics. A link to those relevant to a post here could be included in the post. Forums, like this mailman list, don't have any individual photo or photo album capability. Pics are specific to a forum post so one has to go searching through the forum. There can be a photo/album repository such as a yahoo group and also this list. Can be both-and, doesn't have to be either-or. I'm not clear what the MSOG site update will be, let's see what happens. Can you say more - what platform are you upgrading to, will it be self-subscribe & self-manage one's own content? I have been on the 'net since back when it was a small, mostly friendly, completely non-commercial virtual space and the world wide web was not quite invented yet. Some things have changed a lot, and some have not at all...;-) cheers, John S. -- John Schinnerer - M.A., Whole Systems Design -------------------------------------------- - Eco-Living - Whole Systems Design Services People - Place - Learning - Integration john@eco-living.net - 510.982.1334 http://eco-living.net http://sociocracyconsulting.com
