they sell the adapter at west marine and others places much cheaper, mine came from the local HAM store at almost half the west marine price with twenty five feet of co-ax to go up inside the mast but you will lose some by the extra length of wire and gain some in the height, you will need a field strength meter to check to see if your radio brand gets better or worse, the radio is usually matched to the length of the antenna. ----- Original Message ----- From: <chbenneck@juno.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, May 14, 2004 11:22 AM Subject: Re: M_Boats: wiring diagram
Hi Harvey,
FWIW:
My STANDARD hand held VHF radio has a screw in flexible antenna.
I see no reason why a mast top mounted antenna and it's coax cable couldn't be plugged into the same radio antenna connection.
Why not call the Service Department of your radio manufacturer and ask them if it can be done, and how............?
Connie
