Hi Joe, I adjusted my mast rake on my '75 M-17 to 12" back from the step. Jerry M. advised that if you hang a halyard as a plumb bob it should hang 12" back from the step. I have had it this way all season with certainly no ill effects. The standing rigging previously had the mast straight up which notable Montgomery sailors such as Doug Kelch had advised was too far forward. Rake away! Robbin '75 #056 Miss Take Joe Murphy wrote:
What is the concensus on any, if any, rake on a late model M-17. I have a 22' mast and have gotten some advice saying I should put in about 2-3 inches aft. Thoughts?? Joe Seafrog, M-17
