Will do Bones! What my boards look like, now that I disassembled them, is a cap to the bulkhead that are resting on the floor. And the floor is not on the keel. Least it wasn't until the boards transmitted the force from the tabernacle/mast directly to the floor where the floor was pushed down to the keel. That is why the floor is cracked and depressed right under the boards on my boat. If the deck had stayed in original condition the loads would have been transferred mainly to the bulkhead and the sides of the cabin. But since the structural integrity of the deck under the mast is compromised the loads started to be directed directly down, not spread out. So the load from the mast is now pushing on the three boards that are the end cap of the bulkhead. But these boards were not designed to take the load. Which is why the picture shows the hole in the ceiling and why the floor is now cracked. Thanks Robbin On 3/14/2014 4:03 AM, bownez@juno.com wrote:
Hi Robbin,
Interesting info about your top deck, floor, and the 3 boards not being a true compression post. I assumed they were. Once you open up your deck please take some pictures so we can view the construction and the amount of water saturation. This had happened to my M23 also, but a former owner had dealt with the problem.
Thanks,
