Hi Steve, On my M-17 the spreaders have fittings on the ends of them which allow via a screw locking plate to actually clamp the spreader in place on the shroud. The mast end has a bracket which allows quite a bit of up and down adjustment as well as the usual forward and aft movement. I think if you lay the mast on the ground and via bungy cords or something else apply tension to the upper shroud you can figure out what the bisecting angle is and devise some sort of clamp to anchor the spreader to the shroud. good luck, Tom B, Mont 17, #258
