Because I sail in an area where I need to know if I have sufficient bridge clearance, I have measured my M-15 mast at 19 feet, and figure that I need 26 feet of clearance above water level at high tide to go under a bridge. What happened to the mast on your M-15? If you need to replace it, and cannot find a used M-15 mast, try a used mast from a Westwight Potter. Hello all,
I know that there has been some discussion on Mast length (which I think was settled around 18.5'), but I've got a question about the widths. I currently am using a cut down mast from a catamaran that, from looking at pictures of M15s, is WAY oversized - adding not unconsiderable antiballast.
I had the information once, but have forgotten. Here is the resource I was using from Dwyer Mast Company.<https://www.dwyermast.com/families.asp?cat1ID=20&cat1Name=Masts> I believe it was the DM3 or DM4, but I can't remember.
How much wiggle room is there in mast sizing? I purchased a couple masts on the cheap last year, then found out they were a bit slimmer than they should be. I'd hate for them to bend while out sailing..
Now I've found one that they guy says is 2.5x2 at this craigslist post.<http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/boa/3681294101.html>
Thank you, my collective Montgomery brain!
