Hi Rich,
After I had my centerboard slot leak, and finally found it and repaired it, I also found water in the sump in back of the centerboard slot and below the cockpit sole.
Bailed it out with a small hand held bilge pump and a long piece of hose.
It's been dry ever since my repair, just don't loose small stuff in that area, it'll roll into the sump and you'll have a hard time removing it. Your arm isn't long enough to reach all the way down there - at least mine isn't!
