So having spent some true quality time with the bottom of my M-17 the last couple of weeks I thought I would pass along some trivia for any other souls fortunate enough to fix up the below water line area. I had probably averaged 10 or more small blisters per square foot on the starboard side of the hull. Some as large as a finger nail, but most all much smaller. I would not have found many if I had not been sanding after stripping the bottom paint. Maybe 20 in all had small half moon shaped cracks in the existing barrier/gel coat. The others you just would have never seen. The interesting thing, at least to me, is that there were no blisters at all on the port side. Does this make any sense based on how the boats are layed up (Bob, Jerry)? I like archeology of this sort. More trivia, the entire hull takes just short of four cups interlux 2000 to roll and about 2&1/2 hours crawling around the trailer. Good to know if you are premixing a batch. Should finish the rest off this week I have pictures of all stages but need some advice on putting them on a web site. I should ask my kids, eh? Robbin
