Thanks for the heads up about hunting seasons. An earlier post sent me to the Lighthouse Landing web site: It had a useful map/text about destinations and anchorages on the lake. I figure that it's possible to do 12 to 20 miles a day so reaching the TN border sounds feasible. So far both of those weekends look good. Looks like October gets temperatures in the 50's to 70's. I'll have to check the weather history for November. Mike On 8/2/10, Steve R. <stever707@mail.saabnet.com> wrote:
Mike,
The area of course is a popular hunting destination. From the dates you mentioned I would suggest either the weekends of October 30 and 31 or November 6 and 7. I might be able to get away for a few days between November 1 through November 12.
I have never done it but I would suggest as Howard says:
Day 1) Launch from the dam, overnight near or at Kenlake State Resort Park.
Day 2) Kenlake to KY/TN line. There are several marinas nearby.
Day 3) Back to Kenlake
Day 4) Back to the dam.
At the dam there is Lighthouse Landing like Tony mentioned and KY Dam Village State Resort Park on the other shore.
An alternative would be to launch from Kenlake and have the option for either a two day or four day cruise.
