Hi All, A couple times now when leaving from port on the Gulf Islands side to cross Georgia Strait, I have left with a reef in the main. Both times, once I have gone through Active Pass and gotten out in the Strait I have found that the reef is unnecessary and I have then removed it. My reefing both times didn't quite look correct but it did the job. My question is, on my boom, a stainless steel 'loop' in the shape of a C is on one side of the boom and on the other side of the boom is a loop in the shape of a J. These loops appear to line up with the reef lines. Is this a standard setup on the Montgomery's and how is the reef line meant to be tied off to these (or are they for something else?) Thank you for your replies. Jason Leckie 'Kuma' 1980 Montgomery 17 Point Roberts, WA / Vancouver, BC
