I also use a simple system. It works every time, with any of the headsails I use. 1/8" line with a simple clip to either the first (or last....however you see it) jib hank (at the head of the sail of course) or the grommet in the luff for the hank. The line runs down to a small bock attached at the bow fitting. I have seen where some folks run this line captured inside the hanks. I am sure this is over complicating the deal. Just on the outside loose is totally fine....I keep the slack out of it at all times. Then from that small turning block at the stem head fitting to a set of stanchion mounted fairleads and back to a swivel cleat on the cockpit coming. This system does double duty as my spinpole downhaul. It works fast and slick.
