M_Boats: boot stripe

On a 17 that has never been bottom painted, without putting the boat in the water and marking it, where can I find the measurements as to where boot stripe and bottom paint should be. Did the older 17 have the exactly same water line, or did that change when the ballast changed in 1987 ( I think that was the year) ???
