When you get the bolts out, check to see if water has crept into the balsa core below the mast step. Mine had...but not bad. I drilled them out to 3/8" on top and 1/2" on the bottom, then used a Dremel tool with small saw blade to ream out the balsa core....then backfilled with thickened epoxy mix to seal it. Reaming out the hole creates an epoxy "spacer" between the cores to cut down on compression damage when you put the bolts back in. And do bed with Boatlife. Really messy stuff, but it works.
