When I was rebuilding my '76 rudder (same design), I found mine had long screws inset behind 1/2" bungs that, along with some sort of adhesive, attached the stepped forward leading edge to the main rudder body. Larry On Tue, 13 Dec 2005 08:11:09 -0800 "Tom Smith" <tsmith@nextit.com> writes:
I suspect the fasteners are the result of the past damage from grounding as well Bill. Whatever is there is covered by a filler of some kind and faired. If I had to guess, I'd say the leading edge was reattached sometime in the past and that those are lag bolts of some kind. Whatever, the repair has held up. t

Good photos of the rudders. The 1975 rudder. What type of fasteners ( 3 0f them) are those on the foot of the rudder. My 1975 rudder is stating to delaminate at the foot and I propose waterproof glue supplemented with long screws or other fasteners.
Would appreciate firsthand advice.
