Hi Smiley, the M-15's do come up around the Bay but not often. I found one near Port Tabacco MD and missed one that had been advertised in Alexandria. I went to MA to buy my M-17 and just got an M-23 used in CA (closer to SF Bay in that case). I would never discourage anyone from buying new but used are available now and then and if you are willing to travel or get it shipped (I used U-ship for the CA boat) then it can work out. I would never want to talk you into a bigger boat but you might want to consider the M-17. I sailed the M-15 around the Bay bridge out of Sandy Point but mostly around the Bay down by Chesapeake Beach. I did not have her out in too strong of wind, my issue was usually lack of wind on the Bay, but I had my M-17 out in lots of small craft advisories and she loved it. I have only sailed a Zuma and a Compac 16 before the M boats but the Montgomery's seem very well behaved and very forgiving. They are very stable boats and most important to me sail really well on all points and go fast. For the Bay my only recommendation would be to definitely get a 150% which I used as my standard head sail unless things were really piping up. But you probably know all that. I sail out of Breezy Point near Chesapeake Beach MD, once I have the M-23 re-assembled! Hope to see you out on the Bay or would love to see if we could go out for a spin on the M-23 if that works for you. Robbin M-23 and M-10 On 3/2/2011 7:16 PM, Karen and Smiley wrote:
Looking to get back into sailing, ironically I just unloaded 4 years ago to family a Precision 21 which I bought in 2001 and restored and the story was published early in SCA. I am an experienced sailor having sailed and owned a Prindle 16, Laser 28 and too many windsurfers as well my old P21. I think I am going to buy a new Monty 15 cause you can't find a used one anywhere here out East. Anybody want to sell one to me. Anyway I like sailing with my wife and I like the ease of storage and trailer ability. Can anybody share with me your heavy wind and seas sailing experiences as my port of sailing will be the Chesapeake Bay. Thanks
